Indigenous Social Justice Collection

While the resources used in our organizational system were, for the purposes of the project, centered on literary, textual works that might be found in an academic library, it could very easily be augmented in such a way as to incorporate less conventional types.

The Dublin Core metadata schema’s versatility as well as the pragmatic possibilities of treating metadata as organizational building blocks are demonstrated clearly and effectively through this project. Using Dublin Core as a sort of skeletal, malleable framework that could be "sculpted" to align more smoothly with a certain desired functionality proved to be a crucial decision. Special attention was paid to access points and the means by which users could most easily use and benefit from the organizational system. It was additionally gratifying to work on a project that was ostensibly useful and beneficial to historically marginalized groups.
